Speaker Bite Me
On November 20th The Pastry Club will be hosting an event (at Hoxton Square & Kitchen in London) where Speaker Bite Me and Heidi Mortenson will be playing alongside English band The Chap. This has been the recipe for every single time the three girls Mette Sloth Johnson, Alison Major and Marianne Petersen have hosted their “The Pastry Club” event: Danish music accompanied by new English music in the heart of London – with a mission to showcase the best in Danish music for the English audience.
Heidi Mortenson will kick things off with her mix of playful electronic and danceable music. She is followed by uncompromising noise rocker’s Speaker Bite Me, who will be performing with their “Action Painting” line-up, including back-up singers and percussionists. The final act of the night is East Londoners The Chap, who have released three albums and numerous maxi-singles, with their genre mixing and eccentric music.
The Pastry Club concerts on the 20th (just like previous Pastry Club events, these concerts are hosted in collaboration with ROSA – The Danish Rock Council) appears to be the final this time around. The three promoters have had to come to terms with the fact that establishing a name in London’s club circuit has been both time consuming and financially difficult. However, Mette Sloth Johnson, Alison Major and Marianne Petersen will continue their work with promoting Danish music abroad.
Prior to this, The Pastry Club has introduced bands such as EPO-555, I Am Bones, Choir of Young Believers and I Got You On Tape.
