BauSongs - Songwriting Camp in Berlin
BauSongs is a musical playground for creativity and were the borders between genres and cultures are diminished. The camp takes place in pulsating Berlin.
BauSongs is a songwriting camp where participants work together to create new ideas and music while exploring the cultural life of Berlin through artist visits and concert experiences. BauSongs is inspired by Danish "højskole" traditions and the hope is that the meeting of different backgrounds, cultures and genres will result in new ideas and songs.
The participants also collaborate with the camp's three instructors, Kaspar Kaae (songwriter of CODY and film composer, Greta Schenk (GRETA) and Michael Møller (moi Caprice and The Mountains). Greta is born in Germany and has recorded her albums in Berlin, while both Michael and Kaspar live or have lived in Berlin – and all three are experienced instructors.

The camp is held at the studios of Bauteil 3, which is located at the famous former airport Tempelhof. Today, Tempelhof is a center for creativity and culture. The camp is for artists living in Denmark and Germany.
The vision for BauSongs:
BauSongs, created by the camp's instructors Kaspar Kaae and Michael Møller, stems from their deep artistic connection to Berlin and the desire to create a more open and collaborative camp. The focus is on the process of songwriting and to introduce work methods and insights to the participants that can be used long after the camp itself. You can think of BauSongs as a training camp where the participants are being challenged and inspired for their own songwriting processes – all in a safe environment.
BauSongs was launched in 2022 as part of the NEUSTART initiative. NEUSTART was an upgrade of collaborations between the Danish and German music industries. NEUSTART was created by the four Danish genre organisations: Art Music Denmark, JazzDanmark, Tempi and ROSA in collaboration with MXD – Music Export Denmark,The Danish Embassy of Berlin and The Danish Arts Foundation.
Danish-German Partnership
The German music funding organisation Musicboard Berlin entered as a partner in 2024. The aim of the Danish-German collaboration is to strengthen BauSongs and the relations between Danish and German music environments and organisations. The collaboration gives musicians from both countries and unique opportunity to create new music together in Berlin. You can read more about the collaboration in ROSA's article with Maureen Noe, Referent for Artist Support and International Projects at Musicboard Berlin, here.
