Mapping

As part of Musikhjælp Scenesetup we gather information about grassroot festivals in an interactive map of Denmark.

In all corners of the country, new festivals and initiatives regularly emerge, driven by local cultural entrepreneurs, associations, and other cultural actors. These festivals often focus significantly on the emerging music scene and can play a crucial role in many upcoming musicians' first steps in their careers.

As part of the Tuborg Foundation's and ROSA's Musikhjælp Scenesetup project, which aims to strengthen both emerging music festivals and up-and-coming musicians, we are consistently mapping which festivals in Denmark showcase rhythmic music.

The goal is to increase visibility and provide music industry professionals with a tool to navigate the vast festival landscape. The mapping is designed as a digital, interactive map of Denmark, accessible to everyone. Here, for instance, upcoming musicians can find festivals by genre and date and quickly obtain information on each festival's booking contacts.

The map is dynamic and updated regularly by ROSA. As part of the mapping we collect knowledge on local areas from all municipalities and regional venues.

The map currently includes 51 festivals, but as the festival landscape continuously evolves and new festivals emerge, the idea is to create a dynamic map that is updated regularly. This aspect is managed by ROSA.

We have sketched out themes and tendencies from the mapping, which you can read about in an article in the rapport Dansk Musikliv i Tal 2024 (p. 34. In Danish).
